Anna ending up making an animal inspired piece!

Last Thursday our class traveled to The Cotuit Center for the Arts to view the exhibit titled "Seeing The Light." All of the artwork had the same theme "light", however they way they interpreted it through their artwork was very different! We saw sculptures, photographs, paintings, drawings, and even computer generated art. all of the art was created by artists that live right here on Cape Cod!
After our viewing, we were able to make our own artwork using the technique of layering tissue paper on top of tracing paper. When the light shines behind our artwork, it gives them a very special look!

The class was extremely well behaved and asked amazing questions both to the artists, and the exhibit leaders. We ended the day with a scavenger hunt and also found out that the center offers many different art classes for children. Thank you so much to Mrs. Willis, Mrs. Graven, Mrs. Squeglia, and Mrs. Jacobson for joining us on our special day!!!

  1. I'm so happy that I was able to meet the class for the field trip. I learned some pretty amazing things about the use of light in art. I was also very impressed with how well behaved all the children were. Thank you for letting me join you. -Amy
